Engraved Dog Tags

Find all the information you need and read consumer reviews about dog tags for dogs that will ensure you get the best one for your dog.

Welcome to this section of the website. Here you will find information specific to the engraved dog tags, this variety that allows you to have certain information engraved on your dog tag.

These types of dog tags are customized to your liking. Now the possibilities are endless here. You can request that specific shapes be engraved on it, either on one side or on both sides, or you can ask to see the various shapes that the store has for you and choose from one of them.

While these types of id tags are typically more expensive, who doesn’t like having a little more customization at an affordable price. One word of advice concerning engraving objects would be to remain aware of the weight of the id tag. Bear in mind your dog already has a collar, and while that is probably light, adding something heavy through a connector will, as mentionned previously, be an extra burden for your dog’s neck.

Having said that, most engraved dog tags are simply an army type dog tag with your dog’s name and contact information engraved on it, and perhaps a basic shape like a bone or a dog’s face. If this is the information you wish to have engraved, along with a small design, you can expect to get something really nice for under $20.

The beauty of a product like this lies in the fact that it will last a long time, given that you pay close attention to the connector which holds the collar to the dog id tag. Often times, when the tag is lost, it is due to the connector wearing off. About twice a year you might want to do a routine check to ensure that it is still in place and functionning well.

You also want to ensure that you pick a connector that will not rust, and that has ample flexibility to allow the dog tag to move around relatively freely without having to put pressure on it.

In our experience however, if you spend more than $10 on your dog id tag, the connector will generally be good enough. You don’t need to go crazy about this, and the rule of thumb is “good enough is good enough”.

We have personally purchased both an engraved dog tag with a description, and another one with a description and a design. Both were to our liking, and lasted for 3 years, after which we decided to change them. Fact of the matter is, they were still operational, and the connector was better than ever. It’s one of those items that requires little attention and will last you for ages, unless someone literally pulls on it.

Most designs we see are related to dogs in one way shape or form, such as a bone, a dog house, a dog bed, a puppy face, but some people want a symbol, so they opt for a star, a gun, dog food, a fist, a rainbow, angel wings, you name it, there is virtually no limit to where you can take this.

Have fun with your designs!
